CLINTON/OBAMA IN 2020
At a private fundraiser on Friday, Hillary Clinton told a group of affluent financial backers that she will seek the presidency in 2020 and has already tapped Barack Hussein Obama as her running mate. She ensured her clique, which included executives from Microsoft, Facebook, Apple, Twitter, Amazon, and other technology companies, that with Obama at her side she would “defrock and destroy” President Trump. Moreover, she denounced the Republican Party as archaic dinosaurs and said that after 2020 no Republican would ever again set foot in the Oval Office.
She elaborated on a constitutional means that allowed her to name a two-term former president as a vice presidential pick. Although the 12th Amendment states “no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States,” the 22nd Amendment, a hastily written response to Franklin D. Roosevelt’s impressive run of victories, contains a loophole that permits Obama to not only run as vice-president but also potentially become the president of the United States if a tragedy were to befall Hillary Clinton.
The 22nd Amendment does not say a person cannot be president for more than two terms; it stipulates a person cannot be cannot be elected more than twice. Therefore, according to the letter of the law, Obama is not constitutionally ineligible to serve as either Vice President or President, depending on the situation. Michal Dorf, a law professor at Harvard University, said a Clinton-Obama ticket would stand up to legal scrutiny.
“The 22nd Amendment, to my mind, is a sort of stand-alone provision,” he continued. And that provision says “elected.” “The drafters of this language knew the difference between getting elected to an office and holding an office. They could have just said ‘no person may hold the office of president more than twice.’ But they didn’t,” Professor Dorf explained.
What’s more, Clinton told supporters she had spoken to the Federal Election Committee, congressional leaders, and the Queen of England, all of whom pledged to support a 2020 Clinton-Obama ticket.
Clinton said only one hurdle stood between her and the Oval Office: the November 6 midterm elections. All 430 seats in the House of Representatives and 35 of 100 seats in the United States Senate will be contested. Currently, both are under Republican control, and Hillary said Democrats must usurp control to improve her odds of winning in 2020. If Democrats seize power, articles of impeachment will immediately be leveled against President Trump in a bid to end his reign of terror in advance of the next election cycle. Clinton said she and Obama would rather square off against Pence than duke it out with Trump in 2020.
She urged supporters to devote substantial financial resources toward her victory, and even explained how contributors could establish false identities and shell corporations to circumvent campaign finance laws. Hinting at a potential 2020 “October surprise,” she said that Obama had devised a plan to oust Trump even if he manages to avoid impeachment and enter the 2020 Republican primaries. The plot, she added, required tons of money and an “all hands on deck” commitment from leading technology firms and social media organizations.
“No one and nothing can stand in the way of progress, and Barack and I will make sure of it,” Clinton purportedly said.
